Ten New Aircraft to Join airBaltic's Growing A220 Fleet
Riga, Latvia - August 13, 2024 - AirBaltic Corporation AS (airBaltic) has announced an incremental order for an additional 10 Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The new order is the fourth for the A220 family by airBaltic and brings the airline's total orders for the type to 50.
The decision to purchase 10 more A220-300s is a testament to the aircraft's performance and efficiency. The A220-300 is a state-of-the-art narrow-body aircraft that offers best-in-class fuel consumption, lower operating costs, and an enhanced passenger experience.
airBaltic has been operating the A220-300 since 2019 and has been highly satisfied with its performance. The aircraft has proven to be reliable, fuel-efficient, and popular with passengers.
The new A220-300s will be delivered to airBaltic between 2026 and 2028. They will join the airline's existing fleet of 20 A220-300s and 10 A220-100s, making airBaltic one of the world's largest A220 operators.
"We are delighted to announce this incremental order for an additional 10 A220-300s," said Martin Gauss, CEO of airBaltic. "The A220 has been a game-changer for airBaltic, and we are confident that these new aircraft will continue to drive our growth and success in the years to come."
"We are pleased to see airBaltic continue to invest in the A220 family," said Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer. "The A220 is the perfect aircraft for airBaltic's operations, and we are confident that it will continue to contribute to the airline's success."
